Meet Ihsan Hammouri, a visionary artist whose passion for drawing and painting ignited in his early childhood, evolving into an inseparable part of his existence. With an insatiable appetite for artistic achieving both a BFA and PhD in graphic design—a testament to his unwavering dedication and commitment to his craft.
In 2003, Ihsan embarked on an
inspiring journey to the United
States, seeking to further expand
his creative horizons.
The vibrant city of San Francisco became his canvas as he pursued his MFA at the esteemed Academy of Art University. During this time, Ihsan’s exceptional talent caught the attention of notable typographers and graphic designers, including the likes of Huda Smitshuijzen Abi-Farès, Janna Anderson, and April Greiman. Collaborating with such industry luminaries allowed Ihsan to refine his skills and delve into groundbreaking projects, such as creating captivating mural designs that adorned the streets of San Francisco.brands in the portfolio.
Recognized as a thought leader in his field, Ihsan also imparted his knowledge and expertise through captivating workshops on typography and design. Renowned institutes and universities, including the San Francisco Institute of Art, The Art Institute of California, and San Francisco University High School, eagerly welcomed his teachings, benefiting from his profound insights and creative guidance.
In a remarkable achievement that melds his cultural heritage with design innovation, Ihsan created the first Arabic font inspired by the beloved Latin typeface Helvetica. This groundbreaking endeavor found its place within Linotype’s prestigious library, showcasing Ihsan’s ingenuity and his indomitable spirit as a design pioneer. In 2009, Ihsan’s
dedication led him to establish “ihsan Type Foundry,” a testament to his commitment to pushing the boundaries of typographic excellence.
Driven by an unyielding desire to make a lasting impact in the advertising and branding realm, Ihsan established Elevate Creative agency in 2010.

As a testament to his commitment to education, Ihsan served as a Graphic Design instructor for six years at the Design and Applied Art Department of Yarmouk University. Presently,he holds the esteemed position of Associate Professor at the University of Jordan’s Faculty of Art and Design. In this role, he continues to inspire and shape the next generation of creative minds, imparting his wealth of knowledge and nurturing a new wave of artistic brilliance.
